Mark Price, the chief
creative collaborator on this web site, is a Seattle-area filmmaker and
illustrator. In addition to the pieces found here, his illustrations
have appeared in Dragon Magazine,
The Comics Journal, and
The Stranger. His
critically acclaimed comic book,
Arm’s Length, was released in 2000 and won a Xeric Award.
Mark received his BFA from the Columbus College of Art & Design in
1995.
Migrating to filmmaking from his visual arts background, Mark soon directed the only movie to be set in the World of Khoras – the 27 minute, 16mm short film, Professional Courtesy. It was with this film that Mark received his first festival nomination for Best Director, at ShockerFest 2003 in Modesto, California. He also recently produced his first feature-length independent film, Urban Scarecrow, which premiered at the 2006 Seattle International Film Festival, and has since played at the Austin Film Festival. Fueled by copious amounts of cheap coffee, he continues to juggle multiple creative projects in the Pacific Northwest. |

Arm's Length was published with the help of a grant from the Xeric Foundation. It was an
auspicious debut, garnering praise from critics. (see below) The stories
within, as told by cartoonist Mark Price, touch on stand up comedy and
low-down deeds, hero worship and bus combat, self-awareness issues, fast
food, and hallucinations of famous people.
If you would like a copy of Arm's Length, email him for information. Arm's Length is also available from Mars Import, Last Gasp, and Cold Cut Distributors. |
