Physical Description

The kittersal appears as a small winged feline predator, very similar in size and shape to a common house cat. This animal sports a pair of impressive feathered wings. The kittersal is a lean 5 kilogram animal with a three foot wing span. Although capable of true flight, the kittersal tires easily and uses it flight for short bursts of speed when hunting or escaping a predator. The kittersal glides well.

The kittersal uses stealth and speed to great effect and hunts a variety of small animals in the broad open wilderness of the world. The kittersal will usually avoid larger opponents and will only fight if cornered.

Geographic Distribution and Habitat

The kittersal is found primarily in central and western Ithria, but avoids the extreme cold of the north.

The kittersal is prized as a pet among nobility and spellcasters. There are several reasons for this. First of all, the kittersal is a beautiful animal with a friendly disposition. It makes a wonderful, loving pet and, because of its high intelligence, can be trained. Second, the kittersal is considered something of a status symbol. Because they are rare and expensive to obtain, it is seen as a sign of wealth and/or power to possess a kittersal.

Finally, the kittersal is known to have a unique purr which is very soothing and pleasing to the ear. It is rumored that the purring of the kittersal actually helps focus the mind and can aid a wizard in meditation and mental discipline. No conclusive studies of been done to verify the accuracy of this phenomenon, but many wizards claim this to be true.
