The aswanar worship a host of otherworldly spirits known collectively for the Vaesh. The Vaesh are like minor gods each concerned with a specific function in the Universe - there are dozens of Vaesh. There are vaesh spirits for fire, lightning, wind, clouds, rivers, the ocean, the land, etc.

There is no formal organization to the Vaesh belief. It is a primitive tribal shamanistic religion. Most aswani choose a specific patron vaesh, but will pay homage, at least in prayer, to all of them. This faith is rife with taboos and superstitions.
The forest wraiths, fearful legendary predators of the eastern Qeshiran forests, are supposedly former Vaesh that have been cast down from the spirit realm and now roam the earth. The aswani hold that the outcast forest wraiths take out their fury on the mortal world.
