The sky has always held a special meaning for the baenites. Undoubtedly, it is because of their environment. The desert provides such a perfectly smooth and unbroken horizon and the dry climate allows the setting sun to orchestrate endless harmonies of color upon the clouds. With such perfect and uncorrupted serenity, is it any wonder that the baenites exhibit calm and detached emotional placidity?
No formal center of worship exists for this religion. Instead, followers gather into small groups led by a single priest. These groups are known as flocks and wander out into the desert to hold ceremonies under the sky, whether day or night. Usually, the group will gather in a large circle around a fire or a central speaker. Such meetings are held regularly in accordance with significant celestial phenomena as predicted by the traditional Arrylian calendar (e.g. eclipses, full moons, comets, etc).
The teachings and beliefs of this religion are summed up in a collective text known as the Y'ril. This text, which consists of poems, stories, prayers and rules of behavior, has been passed down among disciples for generations. Each disciple creates his own copy of the Y'ril from his priest's copy.
