Katthar is a scholar and philosopher. He advocates education, study and the gathering of information to make informed and rational decisions. He often speaks in cryptic sentences which must be deciphered. He always has an answer to every problem and a reason for every action. Katthar apears as a very tall, thin baenite male. The hem of his grey robes are lined with small white runes and glyphs on a black background. He is often depicted in art holding a book in one hand and a writing quill in the other. It is said that Katthar records all that he witnesses in the world about him and all that transpires in the lives of each and every baenite.

According to the beliefs of this religion, Katthar was one of the first baenites. He was among the first group to descend from the heavens. When he set foot on the sand of the desert, he was fascinated by all he saw. He found wonder and mystery in everything and yearned to know. But all around him, the chaos of the beginning of time still raged. he saw the battles of the world and shrank from the devastation. Not wanting any part of such madness, he lived as a hermit in the desert, pursuing the study of nature and magic. Later in life, he turned to more philosophical pursuits. He taught many younger baenites and often went on long journeys gathering herbs and capturing animals to study. After a life of study, Katthar returned to the sky to Takyr and Zhun. Those he had taught carried on his teachings.

Katthar represents more of a philosophy than a religion. Worshipers follow him to varying degrees. Some utter a prayer infrequently. Others adopt his teaching and philosophies. Still others master his philosophies and wander teaching others and spreading his word. While not the most powerful or widely worshiped diety, the teachings of Katthar have had a profound influence upon the baenite people. While they are still considered cruel by most other races, they are an intelligent and reasonable race, unswayed by soft emotions. The cult of Katthar is responsible for the high level of education and literacy in this race. Priests of Katthar are the teachers of this culture. As would be expected, the religions of Katthar and Morcrya are closely tied and the churches of these two are on very good terms. But where Katthar stresses education and study, Morcrya stresses strength of will and mental discipline.
