Description

Morcrya is an impressive sight. She is depicted as a  baenite woman, but tall, strong, and with many masculine features. (Muscular, square jaw, etc.) She wears pure white robes and nothing else. She never shows any emotion whatsoever. In fact, she never speaks, but instead communicates directly with her mind.

History

Virtually nothing is known of Morcrya by non-Baenites and outsiders. Only baenites (and only those baenites who worship and serve) and related the histories. According to Morcrya's teachings, Morcrya was the finest baenite born in the world to those who had descended from the skies. She was born into a world of chaos and war. To survive in such a war, Morcrya used her intelligence to outwit her enemies and steeled herself against pain and suffering.

Religion

This cult has had a powerful influence in the cultural development of the baenites. Knowledge, deduction and reason are rooted deep into baenite laws and customs. All baenites, even those who do not actively worship Morcrya, pay homage to her in deeds and words everyday. Morcrya teaches that it is improper and a sign of weakness to allow oneself to be swayed by one's emotions. Thought is the master of destiny. Emotions, especially ones like regret, pity, sorrow and anger, make one weak. True strength comes from forging an iron will.

Morcryan priests develop strong mental powers due to their rigid discipline and mental exercises. These mental abilities form the backbone of Morcrya's teachings and also serve to indicate the rank of the priest.

Those wishing to join the church join as disciples and study for years to restrain emotional conflict and "weak" thought. Through lucid dreaming, they become aware of themselves and their minds. After sufficient study, each undergoes a single mental challenge. This challenge is unique for each individual, carefully tailored to that person. The Arch Priest assigns the challenge. (And many say that it is Morcrya herself who gives the challenge to the arch priest). The challenge is taken very seriously. Many do not succeed and must wait a full year before they may attempt again. Once the challenge has been passed, one may don the pale green robes of an acolyte.

The Hemara are a series of ritualistic prayers that must be memorized and recited without mistake. The length and complex patterns of the Hemara serve as  mental exercises as well as a form of worship. The Chaddar is a complex, geometric shape based on interlocking polygons. It is one of the holy symbols of this religion. There are dozens of variations on the design, but each is considered Chaddar. Morcryan priests use the Chaddar as a mental exercise. By concentrating on the Chaddar, one focuses the mind and forces the body to relax.
