Aughrim, the borrellian god of the mountains, is the land beneath our feet. He is said to sometimes assume a mortal form, a 200 foot giant made of stone and ice that roams the northern wastes. Aughrim makes the mountains quake when he walks thus. He often battles the storms and seas for sport. He is said to be the oldest of all gods, having existed always. Aughrim is the borrellian icon of personal endurance.

Borrellian mythology holds that Aughrim existed before there was such a thing as time. Long ago, when there was nothing save Aughrim and the void, he grew weary of loneliness and, gathering up a handful of snow, threw the powdery mass into the sky, and so the stars were born forever to twinkle in their cold crystalline beauty. Some of the stars later fell to the earth as beasts and birds, tree and flowers... and man. Man gather himself into tribes and clans. Many of these clans made war upon each other. Nations rose and fell, wars were fought, but might Aughrim endured. Then the chaos came when all clans met on the battle fields and the rivers ran red with blood. Those were dark times. Into the chaos, Bren'Tarr was born who led the great northern pilgrimmage. All these things, Aughrim has witnessed in stony silence. He has seen the birth of the stars and the birth of gods. He has witnessed the rise of clans, the fall of empires and the wars fought in between. One day, far from now, war will come again to engulf the tribes of the world, and all things, save Aughrim, will end.

Temples to Aughrim are made of stone and are built into the very rock of mountains. Marble, magically frozen ice and rock sculptures are common within these temples. They are large, solid, cold and sparsely decorated. Deep catacombs are often dug beneath these temples. Aughrim's priests dress in robes that are earthy in color - grey, charcoal, brown, red. They decorate themselves with jewelry fashioned from stone, crystal and metal. The ceremonies of this church involve trembling percussion to accompany chants and prayers. Borrellian mountain pipes and huge drums are used in this capacity.
The magic of this religion is, of course, based upon stone and ice. Low ranking priests are all taught a defensive spell that causes their flesh to become a form of living stone. It looks and feels like stone and deflects blows from blades easily. High ranking priests are able to mold solid rock with their bare hands, cause rock to turn to dust, freeze opponents solid and walk through stone walls.
