Description

Izmerrul is truly insane. He is known for speaking in riddles, doing things for no reason at all, giving gifts to enemies, attacking allies and vanishing for months at a time. He likes to set fires, summon storms, sink ships and frame innocent people - anything that will create conflict in society. He enjoys it all the more if he can push an unstable mind over the edge.

Izmerrul is the antithesis of all things dwarven. The dwarves are an ordered, conservative gruff people. They stick to rules and solid workmanship and strict rules. Izmerrul represents those things that dwarves fear - chaos, randomness, problems, crime, confusion. For the dwarves, Izmerrul is the devil.

History

According to the literature of this religion, Izmerrul was once a normal dwarf who lived a rich and rewarding life. His position at the head of a mine made him quite wealthy. However, a series of tragic events led him down the path of self destruction. He lost his fortune, his family, his friends and his health all within a year. His mind soon followed. Such was his fury that he took his own life so that he might challenge the gods on their ground.

Religion

Worshipers of Izmerrul are usually dwarven, but not always. They are typically outcasts in one way or another. Sometimes a dwarf driven mad with grief or vengeance will begin down this dark path. Criminals often worship. The worshipers of this god are a plague to the land. Fortunately, it is a small cult and maintains a cloak of secrecy about it. Its priests are all quite mad. It seems that a person is stripped of sanity upon achieving the status of priest. Each priest guides a small group of followers. At random times, the priests call their followers to secret gathering places and command some quest or action be taken. These projects are usually directed against some innocent person or organization and rarely make any sense except to those who worship.
