Karenia is a seductress who kills for the pleasure. She is a cold, logical killer, always planning for every contingency. She is extremely careful, organized, intelligent and patient. She teaches these qualities to her followers.
Once Karenia was mortal. She was born the pampered daughter of a wealthy landowner. When she was a young woman, she poisoned a rival in order to win over Jarek, the man of her dreams. Her plan worked and she was wed. However, she was later found out, imprisoned and branded with the mark of that prison. After suffering greatly within its walls for seven years, she planned and executed a bold escape. During the escape, she seduced an officer, killed several guards and crawled through tunnel of maggot-infested garbage. After all this, she returned to Jarek only to find him in bed with another woman. She slew them both, mutilating their bodies and cutting out their hearts. After this incident, she was hunted by the authorities and bounty hunters hired by Jarek’s family. As her infamy spread, she killed and killed again. By the time she established her own guild, she was a skilled and highly paid assassin. She became more of a legend in later life and more reclusive.
Karenia’s cult, known as the Slayers, is a powerful and widespread cult. Only those that prove themselves are allowed to join. All members are skilled assassins. Females are more common than males. Although beauty is not a requisite trait, most members are physically attractive and all have good social skills. Poison is the preferred method and many slayers have specialize in manufacturing herbal poisons.
