Overview
The Phellysian pantheon is a well ordered hierarchical structure. Commanding all the spiritual host is the Overlord Rexilar, also known as the Cat Lord. He is the architect of the phellysian race and the focus of phellysian mysticism. Beneath him are the nine Lesser Lords. Each of these is associated with a particular clan and represents one particular quality of the phellysian race.
History
Long ago, when the world was young, the heavens burst open and all the things in the Universe poured out. The stars and the moons took their place above. The two suns began their endless dance and demons and angels fell to the earth. A great war began that raged across all the lands. From out of the chaos emerged one fallen angel whose likeness was that of a cat. To defend him from the Chaos, he fashioned nine beings to serve him and fight for him. These nine were fashioned in the likeness of cats. And these nine beings in turn fashioned a race of beings that were both cat and man, each in their own likeness. By fighting together and defending each other, they survived the war and drove back the demons, back into the darkness.
Religion
Because this religion and pantheon are so tightly interwoven into the culture of the Phellysians, only phellysians worship and very few choose other gods. Even those that leave Talis for other lands usually maintain their faith in phellysian mysticism. There are nine stone temples with magnificent terraced gardens, one for each Lesser Lord. The tenth temple, for Rexilar, is in the center of Talis. However, this temple is not the original "Temple of Rexilar". It was built during the Age of Sorrow.
The original Temple of Rexilar is in ruins. Great battles were fought there long ago when the angels and the devils fought. It is a law among the phellysians that no one ever go to this place. The ruins are tainted with evil energies from the demons that once fought there. This temple is left to the weeds and vines as a reminder of the darkness that was banished.
Rexilar's colors are gold and black. His holy symbol is a feline eye with the silhouette of a feline claw behind it.
