Krokus is known as the Mighty One. He is the patron deity of saurian warriors. His battle rage and blood lust has earned him great respect among ogre warriors and even some human soldiers as well. His violence and rage are legendary. Krokus is also the saurian god of storms and his wrath and bloodlust are heard in the howling winds. When the driving rains shake the shekuls, it is Krokus. When the lightning tears the sky and thunder shakes the land, it is Krokus.
In saurian art, Krokus is always depicted as as a tall and massively built harothi saurian. His stripes are pitch black which contrast starkly with his white scales. He wields a massive athalas which is carved from a single piece of bone. He wears saurian scale armor fashioned from what appear to be dragons scale and adorned with dragon's teeth. From head to foot, he is an impressive and terrifying sight to behold.
It is said that storms erupt whenever he is in battle. For each victim he slays, there is a stroke of lightning and the terrible thunder that follows is the roaring laugh of Krokus as he stands over the fallen.

The church of Krokus is widespread throughout much of saurian culture. It is a loosely structured religion of common prayers and beliefs. It has no great halls of stone. Instead, most worship is conducted at simple shrines in saurian villages and upon battle fields. Almost all saurian warriors pray and sacrifice to him. Most saurian villages have a shrine or crude statue erected in his honor. Such statues are usually carved in wood from trees that were struck by lightning.
Any day which sees either a battle or a storm is considered holy by the faithful. During either, the faithful believe Krokus is watching them. The holiest of days are those in which the faithful engage in battle during a storm. During any storm, the followers of Krokus fight with unchecked fury and never seem to tire.
The church of Krokus has no central book of scripture. However, there are a number of songs that the faithful sing. Some songs precede battle and inspire. Other songs are sung after a battle and praise the fallen faithful.
Priests of Krokus find glory in battle and hold no ill will against warriors who worship other gods. In battle, all is laid bare and the strong conquer the weak. Sometimes priests and followers of Krokus will find themselves fighting along side ogre war priests and orcish soldiers or even human mercenaries. But at other times, the priests of Krokus may face those same warriors on the battle field. It does not matter. Enemies and friends both come and go. All that matters is the battle of today, the foe standing before you. Fight now and fight well, for the storm is coming and Krokus is watching.

Most saurians pray to him: for shelter during a storm, for victory in battle or for success in the hunt. The truly faithful and the priests of this religion almost always venture out into the wildness during storms to be closer to their god. They will climb hills and beat on their chests as the fury of the winds and rains whip about them.
Only male harothi saurians may serve Krokus as priests, for only they experience the fire of Krokus rage in their hearts. These ferocious warrior/priests are known as "slayers". However, almost all saurian warriors worship this god. Some saurian warriors paint black and white stripes on their bodies before entering a battle so that Krokus will find favor with them and make them victorious.
To join as a priest and become a slayer, a saurian warrior must undergo a test of strength and courage wherein he must fight three slayers of Krokus. His battle skills are tested as are his resolve. If pleased, the slayers he fought will welcome him into their church. Slayers of Krokus always wear black and white stripes to denote their rank. There is only one rank. Within a group of slayers, combat ability determines authority and disagreements are also settled through combat. Slayers share their experience with each other and the faithful, trading fighting techniques and combat tricks.
The church demands that each follower tithe one item of value after each storm. This item must be taken from the body of an enemy (for warriors) or must have some value to the follower. Items are often hand crafted objects of art. Other times the offerings are more practical and may include useful tools or weapons for the slayer priests.
