I really hate spam.
I've noticed a serious increase lately in the sophistication and persistance of spambots on forums. Both Khoras and another website I help out with have been hit multiple times recently with spam getting through. I'm considering bumping up the security settings.
For now, at the very least, I'm going to start a daily sweep to clean out any spam that gets through.

I know kids visit the forum from time to time and the two I reported were totally inappropiate. Anything you can do to prevent spam is appreciated.
I've been reporting them as I see them. I tend to get on around once a day, and new spam seems to pop up every two or three days.
Hey David, have you considered appointing some admins to delete spam and get rid of spambot profiles? I wouldn't mind helping out, and I hate to think of someone seeing that on anything linked to Khoras.
Sure. I hadn't thought of that, but if you're serious and you'd like to help with, I can upgrade your rank and give you admin rights. i.e. the power to delete. You've been a long time vocal supporter and trust you to wield the power wisely. :)

Miscellaneous means a REAL topic, not: porn, ads, etc.
If you have something to say that's one thing, but it's hard to tell between a person and a spambot when they're both posting stuff like: Hey look at this video of me having sex OR So, about that game. It was great. (Without anything further or some sort of reference we can see, not if you're legitimately saying: I love football, anybody else watch NFL? That's totally cool) Or whatever. If you want to say something, we'd love it. Just actually say something, don't type some random half of a sentence and not explain to us what you're talking about, because if it makes absolutely no sense, we can't be sure that you're even a person. I try not to erase posts that seem like they might have been intended to be on topic, or whatever, and I always warn someone and give them a few opportunities to post something relevant before doing anything serious. I don't like having to do something like that. But we've had periods where we had tons of spam, everything from porn to penis pills, and that means we have to be vigilant, because they might stop for a little while, but they always eventually figure out how to get into the forum and make things less enjoyable for all of us.
Obviously, you're a person, posting this, so that already makes our jobs MUCH easier. But, really, you can talk about pretty much whatever, though I'd think sex/porn/drugs/etc. would be obviously inappropriate on this forum. However, it IS a miscellaneous board, and therefore as long as it's relatively clean and has some purpose or relevance, you're free to talk about more or less whatever you want.
And thank you for actually asking, that's kind of why we're here. :)
