Heya folks...it's been a few years since ive been here. Got pre-occupied with life. Anyways, i'm looking for some map generating software (preferably something free, im on a really tight budget) to use to create maps for my future DnD setting. I came here hoping somebody would be able to direct me to something free and easy to use.
Thanks in advance!
Spence
Wow it has been a long time. Good to see you popping your head back in. As for your question, I haven't seen a Map Generator in a long time. Haven't looked in a long time either, but I know they are out there.
Unfortunately google has not been my friend in finding one either. It keeps sending me to places to purchase video games with level editing software...
That's kind of gay. It's been quite a long time, but I *think* there was a convo about how Dave made all his maps that might have some pertinent information, but again, not positive there.
Campaign Cartographer - www.profantasy.com - expensive, but this one is probably the most popular. Also, looks like they are up to version 3.
Fractal Mapper - http://www.nbos.com/products/mapper/mapper.htm - version 8. Looks good. Cheap. Only about $35.
Auto Realm - http://autorealm.sourceforge.net/ -= Totally free. Other than that, I know nothing about it.
Hexmapper - It's called Hexmapper, but I'm having trouble finding the page. Trying googling Hexmapper. Some people seem to like it.
Dundjinni - Never heard of this one before just 5 minutes ago. But it looks pretty cool. Hell, I might even have to check out this as a possible tool for Khoras. Looks versatile.
Here's a good list of stuff... maybe something in there will be useful... http://www.rpglibrary.org/main.php?showcat=Software
Nice, i will have to explore these after work today. Thanks David!
