I wanted to ask you, David, if you would allow a mage to, say, study both regular and chaos magic. I know that they are two total extremes, but that's just the point. If so that could noticeably complicate a character's situation.
He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.

I dont know exactly how David would rule on this issue...but we do have a ruling for it on Dathkandra.  It's actually a Feat, Chaos Sorceror.  It can be taken by any chaotic mage and all it does is reverse the issues with Drellis and Karrym.  So during Karrym dominate they are at -1 caster level and during Drellis dominate they are at +1 caster level.

By doing it this way, one cannot do both normal and chaos magic.

I think that's how David wants it, *changes to mock exalted voice*, *as in high and mighty* ;D, so I want it too.

Yes, generally speaking, the chaos mages on Khoras are like Wild Mages. Powerful, but less control. And their magic is on a different frequency, so to speak... these two types of magic are polar opposites in a way.

but I love exceptions to the rules. If someone in my game wanted to run a mage which was studying BOTH kinds of magic, I would allow it, but there would be some serious penalties. He would have to study everything twice as hard and he would advance in both fields very slowly. It would be frustrating from a player's point of view, the very slow level advancement. But every few levels, I would treat him with a bonus spell or ability. However, they would be few and far between and not really worth the slow advancement. Such a mage would be a serious academic... spending all his time in the lab and library and spell chamber... not out adventuring. It would be a GREAT non player character, but might not work as well as a PC.

      Okay y'all, thanks.

well david if a PC was running a saridian mage then one could be a chaos mage and the other a normal mage, just an idea to consider.
If you have a cactus plant that dies on you, that means you are less nurturing than a desert

Yes, the saridian could do it without breaking a sweat. :)
