I was wondering. Lately, I've become rather curious about whether my character, Tanis Mondar, could ever be made canon like Morlokk and Callister Draabyn. Obviously I would need to work a great deal on building a character description, and possibly some fiction to expand upon my basic information. But I would be greatly honored if one day I could add to the World of Khoras in a tangible way. I was just wondering, if that would be possible, and what it would take to get that accomplished. Also, I would have to think of how his official character sheet on the website would be done, but again, it's just an idea.

Anyways, David, just thought I'd ask. Also, hopefully, we can put some life back in the forum. We've all asked a lot of questions, and it's hard to think of new things to discuss, but I always enjoy discussing Khoras.  :D

Absolutely. You could get your character to become canon. Actually, I've been thinking about something along those lines lately. Someone recently asked if they could help out with Khoras. I have a specific list of things I want to add or expand in Khoras, but I welcome new material from others and would love to figure out a way to get people to contribute... to sort of expand Khoras through mutual cooperative participation. Khoras already has a well defined framework, but there's lots of opportunities for people to contribute within that framework.

Let me see if I can explain what I'm thinking... let's say you want to add a new tavern or business establishment, or maybe take over an existing one and flesh it out. I would love that. I could totally see people taking over small sections of Khoras and making it their own, adding to it and so on. What I would like to do is open up areas of Khoras that could be edited by anyone... sort of like a wikipedia. The editing would be limited to individual pages or groups of related pages, so no one person could drastically alter canon material. But bits and pieces could be edited or added to.

Not sure how I would set that up from a technical standpoint and there would have to be safeguards in place. The overall framework would have to be protected. In other words, I'd paint the world in big, broad strokes, but lots of little details could be contributed by lots of people. But I think it could work. This would require a lot of research, but it might be something I might experiment with, on a small scale, in 2010.

Anyway, to answer your question, if you wanted to make your character canon, just send him to me... describe him in great detail and tell me where you think he might fit in the world... and we could add him.

First of all, that sounds amazing. Though I would suggest that the easiest thing would be to give us access not to the actual site, but to something along the lines of a Word document version of the page(s) we were interested in, and have us send them to you for review and posting. That way, you would have the safeguards to prevent some spambot or malicious person from giving you tons of headaches, and we would have an easy time taking care of editing and adding to the site. It might be a tad more time consuming, but it would work rather well, and allow you to add our ideas according to Spotlights and when you had the opportunity.

And, I would love that. Of course, I'll need to really work on fleshing him out as a character, and I'll probably want you to edit it a bit to ensure he flows well with the site, but whenever I can get around to doing that, I'll send you what I have and see where we go from there. If I decide to have him mobile, which is most likely, he wouldn't really have any particular 'home base', but would be wherever he and the Heroes of Ankar happened to be adventuring at the time. Which, I think, would be cool. It'd fit well with the site, because he has an ally with a ship, and frequently visits the other continents and outlying islands, exploring and adventuring, so any DM who wanted to use him at some point could say he just happened to be where that group needed him to be, or could make it a big journey, conversely, if it served the plot, and what the DM wanted.
