Session 20 – Exploring the City of Okslad

After the Wrestling Match
Ugida healed Callister with some high powered healing spells. Callister was the celebrity of the evening and he won a lot of friends by wrestling.

The Magrakian Merchant
A magrakian merchant named Rokor approached the group and told them that he had a cargo of herbs, roots, tubers and other foodstuffs that were going to spoil unless he could find a ship to transport it soon. The ship that he had made arrangements with had failed to show up. Possibly a victim of the current war. Anyway, after some begging and dealing, Rokor convinced Callister to let him use the Third Wind. Kaedin and the rest of the crew are going to transport Rokor's cargo to the Padashan Empire. Callister figures that the Third Wind ought to earn some money while they are waiting for the "away team" to return. This makes sense. The extra money and provisions can be used to re-outfit the Titan when/if she comes in.

In exchange for helping him, Rokor has made arrangements with his contacts and will provide the party with a fully equipped caravan (actually, just two wagons) and a letter of introduction to a merchant in the Aukarian Republic. The Aukarian Republic is the nation to the east and the players will be passing through there. And apparently, a letter of introduction will go a long way in the Republic.

Meeting With Pagrad
The party, including B'Nee, met with Pagrad and two other scholars at the City Library. The discussion included local nations, races, etc. Pagrad gave the group the completed map of Aggradar. It was more detailed than the map they currently had.

Pagrad apologized for not being able to answer all of the group's questions. He didn't have detailed knowledge of the lands east of the Aukarian Republic.

Pagrad told the group about an old hermit that lived to the east very near to where the party will be travelling. This hermit was a vaullian scholar of rank and fame. His name was Sarroch and he lived alone in a ruined castle in the eastern part of Fyrren's Wandering (detailed below). Sarroch was either retired or exiled – depends on who you ask.

Pagrad gave the party a letter of introduction to Sarroch and assured them that he was wise in many things. Sarroch would also be able to provide a much better map of Aggradar. Pagrad strongly advised the group to seek Sarroch's counsel because he could give them detailed information about the lands to the east.

The Royal Court
Later that day, the group attended court and got to see a little of how the magrakian government works. Also, they were introduced to the king who peppered them with questions about Ithria. They told the king of the threat of Duthelm. He did not seem concerned with a handful of warships from Ithria since he was already at war with the Sybrenar Imperium and dozens of warships were already out and prowling the seas.

The Brothel
The party (well, the male members) spent the night at a brothel. To say that they indulged themselves is putting it mildly.

The Next Morning
The next morning, the party was met by Rokor who provided two wagons which are both loaded with supplies, food and water. The wagons have 2 horses and 1 driver each. The driver of the first wagon is experienced in navigating the lands ahead.

That's where we ended. The group is packing up and making preparations. The caravan is assembled and ready to go. The group will be leaving Okslad behind next session.

The party's small caravan will be heading into a desolate region known as Fyrren's Wandering. It is a maze of deep canyons and rugged terrain which is home to outlaws, exiles, small petty bandit groups and such. There is a single main road that goes through the region from Magrakia to the Aukarian Republic. Most caravans stick to the main road. If you leave the main road, it's easy to get lost in the canyons. There are a series of keeps on the main road for caravans to spend the night. These keeps are maintained by both Magrakia and the Aukarian Republic.

It will take about seven days to get through Fyrren's Wandering. The party had been told that the keeps are safe and clean and a good place to spend each night. They had also been given a map which shows the exact location of Sarroch's place. It'll be on the far side of the Wandering, just before they come out and arrive at the Aukarian Republic.

They party has two "letters of introduction". One give them by Pagrad, the magrakian librarian, which introduces them to Sarroch, the wise old hermit who lives out in the canyon maze. The other letter of introduction is from Rokor and introduces them to a merchant in the Aukarian Republic.
