The World of Khoras - 10 Year Anniversary Announcement

I would like to announce that April 16, 2008 is the 10 Year Anniversary of www.khoras.net (that is, Khoras being online under its own domain name). I've been working on a new world map, a very detailed world map, for Khoras. My original goal was to unveil it on that date as a way to celebrate the anniversary.

However, the map project has become so huge that there's no way I'll be able to deliver it by the anniversary. Not even close. (Maps take a long time and this map, which dwarfs the current one in size and complexity, is taking far too long to complete). Therefore, instead of rushing the map, I'm going to produce some alternate work, on a smaller scale, as a way to celebrate the anniversary.

At the suggestion of Mr. Mark Price, I'm going to write a new short adventure. This new adventure, along with several other updates and additions, will be unveiled on April 16th. So, feel free to stop by, wander around a bit to check out what's new and maybe say hi on the forum.

I will continue to work on the new Khoras world map and I'll put it online when it's ready. I'd rather not rush it.

Questions, suggestions and comments are welcome, as always.

I've posted a new adventure. "The Festival of the Coin - Part I". Part II will be coming along in a couple of days. Also, there will be more uploads and additions as April rolls along. Pretty much, I'm making all of April a celebratory month. :)

Just wanted to say great job with making it 10 years. I've been active on this site only for bits and pieces over the past year or two, but I enjoy it immensely. Khoras is my favorite fantasy setting, and has become the default location for my friends and I to play in, whether it's D&D or GURPS. Thank you so much for putting your creations online for all to enjoy.

Great job, and keep up the good work.

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.

Well, besides Kalgamorra, there's also a new short story about Callister Draabyn and the Third Wind in the Tales section. Also, there will be a new short story about Seven Kegs coming soon.

tanis

i've been looking forward to that for a while

Ok, in all honestly, I might not make the August 1 deadline. But it IS coming. Really. :)

tanis

haha no worries it'll come when it comes. methinks you do it for the suspense though :P

Don't know if I've said anything about Kalgamorra yet, but I think it is an amazing, kudos my friend. Always looking forward to stories as well.

Oh! and I've been without constant access to a computer for the past four or five months, but I got my hands on an old Pentium 3 machine. So I'll at least be able comment and what not a bit more.

To Tanis...

no, really, it's not just for the suspense.  ;)  I've just been buried at work. Hell, I'm in Texas right now on a business trip enduring record breaking heat and wrestling with various technical problems.

But beside a lack of time, on that Seven Kegs story, inspiration has yet to strike. Mark and Heath have been encouraging me to write it. And I have many great ideas and story fragments written down. But this mass of notes and writing has yet to gel into a coherent plot. As soon as I get a few details of the plot hammered out, I'll be able to move forward on it. But I'm gonna finish it because a promise is a promise. :)

tanis

haha no worries david we understand you're busy. but alas if you don't pay the bills we get no more Khoras, so... lmao

Finally got around to reading the Callister story, and I've been wanting to say it for a while now, I absolutely love the characters. I love humor and almost anything he does makes me want fall out of my chair. I give you props on your writing for that. I do hope you find some inspiration for as many stories as possibly because a character like that deserves to be written about.

Oh and in Texas? Watch out us Southerners can get quite aggressive to you north types. You come down here with yer fancy werds, devil music, and cough medicine. You can keep 'em. I'll take Ol Bama and whiskey and peppermint myself.

AAaaaah and while we're on the subject of Texas, a buddy of mine held out on me and got tickets to Oz Fest in Dallas over the weekend. So now he's going to watch Ozzy and Metallica, and I have to serve Chili's food to people who think 2.13 is enough to pay for a 42" tv.... *starts to grumble and gets in bed*

tanis

Hahahahahaha y'all come back now ya hear!?!

lmao  ;D ;D ;D
