I thought I read that there was going to be a monthly spotlight on the religion section. A helpful tool for DM/GM's, and particularly me, would be to add Spheres of Influence (both major and minor) to the description of deities.
Any thoughts on this?

The religion section in Khoras is one of the weakest and least developed sections in the whole web site. I'm not satisfied with it and I am planning a major overhaul for the entire religion section and all the gods. A few months ago, I began working on the overhaul and gathering all of the notes together. I may have mentioned this in a forum post or something. However, as often happens, something else popped up that needed my immediate attention. I shelfed the religion overhaul for a little while. I'm going to get back to it fairly soon. It will be a monthly spotlight topic. Not sure which month... probably sometime in the next 3-4 months. Maybe March if things work out.

Hi Dave!
I have a question concerning the incoming overhaul in the religion section. Will you reorganize and add some material, or will you deeply rewrite what is already written?

There are a few gods that I don't really like. Some of them simply don't have much detail. Others I feel were not really well designed from the beginning. Some of those dieties overlap unnecessarrily. Those are going to be merged, where it makes sense.

Then, once this cleanup is done, all the gods are going to get more detailed added. Probably a slightly new format, but the main thing is that additional detail will be added to most.

Don't worry, many of the "classic" Khoras gods - you know, the big ones that are integral to the world, will remain. They will just get a facelift and more detail added. I would say about 75% will remain intact and get a facelift. Maybe 25% of them are going to get reorganized.

And yes, there will be a few new gods.

If anyone out there has a "favorite" god in Khoras and would absolutely HATE to see that god disappear or change drastically, well, speak up. Make a case for him (or her). If a particular god gets a few votes or a passionate and well worded argument against change or deletion... then I'll spare them.

Or would you guys like to see the list? Usually I work behind the scenes and then, when something is ready, unveil it. But, in this case, if you really wanted to see it... I could show you a sneak preview. I do have a master list showing the new list of gods. Most are unchanged. A few are "merged". Some are new. Would you like to see the list and then argue for specific gods? Or would you prefer to just be surprised?

One more thing on this... one of the main reasons I wanted to clean up and reorganize the religion section wasn't just to get rid of gods that I don't like. There are a LOT of gods in the religion section. Almost 90 religions. Too many I think. I just reviewed the revised list I have. Most of it involves combining undetailed gods that overlap and creating new and more compelling religions. I would really like to get the total number of religions down to about 60. I think 60 religions is plenty. And each of those gods/religions will be much more detailed and just plain better.

I would like to see the list! ;D
For myself, I "use" specially Karenia (and a little bit Strath and Mareth). I don't know if she is in the list... ???
My poor goddess... :D

I have used Assytia and Kael the most.

Assytia is vital to the female druids and rangers. I would like to see her stay.

Kael is just plain fun. We had a 1/2 ogre battle priest who loved to incite berserker rage in everyone around him. He may make another appearance.

I like the Ogre gods, who I doubt you'll harm much seeing as they are some of the more detailed.

But I'm cool with seeing the list or being surprised. Either way works.
He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.
