A civilization is a heritage of beliefs, customs, and knowledge slowly accumulated in the course of centuries, elements difficult at times to justify by logic, but justifying themselves as paths when they lead somewhere, since they open up for man his inner distance.
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Civilization is, perhaps, the most important and most defining element of a fantasy world. Therefore, the civilization section of Khoras is by far the largest. Within this section, you will find descriptions of the great walled cities of Ithria, the vast eastern empire, the wild primitive lands of the west and all realms in between. Civilization includes the languages of the lands and the various groups, organizations and secret societies with which people ally themselves. Beyond this, civilization also encompasses all things that are man-made, whether that be physical or intangible. The great ships of the ocean, the goods and services which can be purchased in a city market square, the enchanted and wondrous treasures of old and more are all the workings of civilized man. The legends and lore, the stories and wives' tales, the gossip and rumors - all these things are the product of a civilized world. These things and more are detailed in Section 1: Civilization.
