Physical Description

Green slime is an amorphous life form that appears as a thick, viscous mass of translucent slime. It moves slowly, crawling up walls or rolling along floors.

Combat

Green slime is primarily an ambush predator. It is very sensitive to vibration and can sense the presence of creatures by their movement or even their heart beat. Green slime will position itself on the ceilings over tunnels, corridors or doors and drop down on unwary creatures from above.

Once contact is made, the slime will flow around garments, through gaps in armor and attach itself to living flesh. It will then begin to consume all organic matter. A victim being attacked by green slime will suffer rapid damage each round. Weapon attacks will have no effect on green slime. Attacking green slime while it is attached to a victim will only harm the victim.

A victim covered in slime has few options other than removing all armor and clothing and scraping the slime off as quickly as possible. Green slime will consume clothing (wool, flax linen, furs, leather, wood and so forth). Green slime cannot consume metal, stone or crystal. While green slime can consume wood and vegetable matter, it seems to a strong preference for animals.

Green slime is vulnerable to fire and cold. Thus, it can be frozen or burned. Keep in mind that any attack method (weapon, fire, cold, etc) used against green slime while it is attached to a victim will also affect the victim. Green slime is immune to electricity, acid, melee attacks and mind affecting magic. The slime conducts electricity, so electrical attacks will not hurt the slime but will hurt the victim.

Green slime crawls along floors and ceilings of dungeons, ruins, underground caves and the like. It prefers to move in darkness and position itself for an attack. If it comes upon a camp, it may approach by stealth and attempt to envelop a sleeping victim.

Green slime can move in water and, while in water, is very difficult to see.

Geographic Distribution and Habitat

Green slime can be found anywhere in the world, but never in direct sunlight. It prefers cool, damp, dark places. It is typically found in dungeons, ruins, caves and tunnels. It can also be found in dense forests and swamps with heavy overhead foliage.

Ecology

Green slime reproduces by fission. Once it has consumed enough food, it will divide into two slimes, each going there own way.
