The Shard Mountains, often simply referred to as "the Shards", are a rugged chain of peaks ranging from the temperate area of the Trossoli Dominion to the northeast most coasts beyond the Iron States. Most of these mountains are snow capped giants, many reaching over 25,000 feet tall. The northern stretches are lashed with severe snowstorms every winter and icy temperatures make the higher slopes very deadly.
The northern Shard Mountains are known to be home to the great wyrm Thrallanxith, a large female dragon that dwells in an enormous cave at the base of one of the larger mountains.
