was in the process of creating a timeline for my world and was checking out
others and started wading through the HUGE history of Khoras. i find it
VERY well done and PRE map of ithria and its history was a nice touch.

it was a good read for forming my own time line, of course just a WEE smaller
in scope...   :o

do you find you know it all by heart, or do you have to re-read it yourself
to remember whats happened?  :o

thanks Dave

I don't have the timeline memorized. I often go in there and read it to double check a date or something before I add new material to make sure the dates between events all make sense. I often will discover something in the timeline that I had forgotten about. Of course, that's true all over the site. I sometimes go back and read older areas of the world (that I haven't touched in a long time) and I'll find huge chunks of pages that I don't remember writing. It's always fun when that happens. :)

The timeline originally started off with only a hundred entries or so. But it grew as needed to accomodate events linking all the areas of the world. I think the timeline of any world will eventually become enormous. Everything has a history. Every character, every tavern, ever magical blade. The timeline on Khoras is very superficial - it just hits the major events. There are lots of obscure events that haven't been incorporated yet. Someday I'm going to find a better way to organize it than a simple linear timeline.

that was my real question do i go the way of a general overview
or start putting down year by year details....

so far i've just done a general overview and threw out a few specifc names and places.

interesting enough a year ago or so i made a genreic history maker
if anyone is interested in trying its on my website...

I say start with a general overview of the entire historical timeline with all of your really big events. This often is breaks history up into Ages or some other grandiose chapter. Then add in smaller events as you go.
