Has anyone heard of Membrane (or M) Theory?

It is an evolution of String Theory. It is currently the best option available for a 'theory of everything', a term coined by Einstein, meaning a theory that could accurately describe the functions and purposes, and the effects thereof, of all matter, energy, and all forces. The issue begins with the fact that the Theory of Relativity is accurate at describing the force of Gravity, as well as the effect of gravity on the large and very large scales, while the Theory of Quantum Mechanics is accurate at describing the three remaining forces, Electromagnetism, Weak Nuclear Force, and Strong Nuclear Force, along with the effect of these forces on the scale of atoms and smaller scales. Based solely on these two theories, which are both viable and accurate, there is no way to reconcile the theories, or their accurate yet contradictory theories of matter, particles, waves, etc.

Membrane Theory states that there is a multiverse of universes confined to membranes found in the 11th and final dimension, out of ten spatial dimensions and one time dimension. Along these membranes, which are somewhat like ruffled sheets flying in the wind, the ripples cause vibrations which evidence in the lower dimensions as 'strings' which act in a particular fashion, depending on how they vibrate. Every particular, wave, every piece of matter, etc., is just a different manifestation caused by a unique vibration, sort of like a different musical note. Therefore, there are an infinite number of universes, which could potentially have totally unique laws of physics.

I could go on indefinitely, but I was just interested in whether David was even interested in trying to explain some of Khoras's more unique metaphysical laws, such as magic and Drellisian radiation, and potentially including why Karrym's gas sheath has the effect it does on said radiation, and things like whether there were unique forces or anything like that in the Khorasian universe; and if so, whether or not he would be willing to attempt to explain these things somehow, thinking that Membrane Theory might give him new ideas for the processes of his world.

And with this, it seems that I've finally had a new big idea for a question about Khoras. I think I asked something like this before, but it was with a poorer understanding of the subject, and a less comprehensive and focused set of questions to be answered, and without some unifying theory to base any explanations on. Anyways, I know you'll at least enjoy reading this David.  ;)

In fact, David has already written something on the physic of magic (in the "Science of Magic" section). And it is the first time I had seen such a deep physical explanation (usually it's just an small description)

Well yeah, I knew about that, but his description of magic, while quite well-designed and beautiful, has been around, more or less unchanged since as long as I've been looking at the site, which is a lot longer than I've been on the forum even. Not that it needs changing. It's just that I've always felt that David liked physics and having an accurate, in depth explanation of the abberant physics of a world with magic and Drellisian radiation, something which is not radioactive (as I understand it, at least), yet can mutate life and advance evolution, and which can also disrupt the natural workings of magic. I just recently gained a deep understanding of M Theory, and I just thought I'd see Dave's point of view on the theory, and if he was interested, his point of view on whether it allowed an even deeper explanation for the things he has already explained.

You're absolutely right - the Science of Magic section has remained unchanged for years. I originally wrote that over a decade ago in the earliest years of Khoras and haven't really ever updated it. Maybe it's time. I do love science, astronomy and physics and often find myself engrossed in deep conversations about such things with friends. When I first wrote the Science of Magic page, I mainly did it for myself. I didn't really expect it to be of much interest to anyone else. I had thought about rewriting at some point, but not for some time. It might be fun to rewrite that page now with a decade of learning and science progress behind it. I'll have to do some research into membrane theory and see where that leads me.

Well sweet!

I guess I'll have to wait a bit, but I'm sure it'll be well worth it lol.
