What's your avatar?

I was curious what everyone's avatar is or where it comes from.

Bart, yours looks like a dragon's head. I was just wondering if it was a specific dragon. It almost looks like it was one of Tiamat's dragon heads from the old D&D cartoon. Speaking of which, my avatar is, of course, the Dungeon Master character from the 1980's D&D cartoon. It wasn't a great cartoon, but I still loved it. The DM character seemed kind of appropriate for this venue.

Kristian, I have no idea what yours is. Looks 3D rendered. But what is it?  Just curious. :)

Anyone else care to speak up about their avatars? Give us the story behind it. :)

He. Mine is from the cover of "1000 Years And 1 Day" by Ambo. This is their first - and propably only - album. It's just the two of them, and the reason I even know about them is that Robyn Miller, who makes most of the instrumental parts of this music, was part of the team that made Myst, an old computer game, and its sequal Riven. I'm a big fan of these games and their sequals, and was, until recently, a regular poster at Myst Obsession Forums, where someone had heard of this album an told us that it could be bought on iTunes. I rushed in and bought it, and I really like it. Their website is http://tinselman.com/ambo.html where you can listen to some sample tracks from the album (I recommend "Ever After You"). It's not really the sort of music I normally listen to, but I think it's really good.

The picture isn't a 3d render. I think it's a painting. It was done by Richard Vander Wende, who used to work for Disney - doing design work on Aladin, among others - and who was hired as visual designer for Riven. The picture is called "The Amboman".

Yep. Mario. We all know him from the video game! :)

Ok, you probably won't believe me, but I know someone who actually knows the real Mario. Yep. I can't go into details. But suffice to say that when Atari wrote those early games, they based the character of Mario on the guy who owned the building they were renting. A wealthy Italian guy who owns a lot of real estate. He lives here in Seattle. :)  The "original" Mario. :) I think that's pretty cool.

Kristian

That is, indeed, pretty cool.  8)

My Avatar is a Far Seer.  One of the Heroes for the Orc race in Warcraft III and Warcraft III The Frozen Throne.  Far Seer's are the most respected and powerful of Shamans for the story of the game.  In DnD terms they would be high level Druids that rely on just a few spells (Call Lightning Storm, Scry, Summon Natures Ally and Earthquake).

Edit:  I've changed my Avatar to the Lich, an UD hero from the same game.

I finally got one, and if you don't know what it is, it is the album cover art for Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd, Lynyrd Skynyrd's debut album. They're my favorite band.

Ahahaha! I come back through this post and realize I posted it a LONG time ago. As in almost three years.

Needless to say I've changed it. Just in case you don't recognize it, it's a picture provided by the forum for use as an avatar. And it's Kurt Cobain. You know, the Nirvana guy. Who I'm completely obsessed with lmao. Anyways, just in case anyone's wondering.

Golanthius

I have used this avatar for so long, I don't remember where I found it. Its the picture I used for my 2E character (Golanthius Silverleaf) He is a 12th level elven F/M. He is of noble birth and gave up his right to the throne so he could be free to adventure and do whatever he wants to do. He is now retired and married to Alexia Odess, High Priestess of Oden (13th level human cleric).

And no he's not Drow

Lance

I believe that might be a Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale PC game character pic. Just going from memory.

Thanks Lance...However its not from the PC game, it's an image of Drizzt Do'urden who is a fictional character in the Forgotten Realms setting, originally intended by R. A. Salvatore as a sidekick for Wulfgar in the Icewind Dale Trilogy,

As soon as I read your reply, I knew where I got it from.

Vertrax

I have been trying to upload a picture onto this site for a while now but it never seems to work.

P.S. the profile name actually has nothing to do with the company vertrax inc. it was a coincidence that after i made this profile i decided to look up vertrax on google to see if I got any hits on khoras when i discovered the link to the site of some random company
