Juema is the language of the sea gypsies. It is a derivative language of the Southern tongue so it shares much of the basic structure and syntax of Southern. However, the sea gypsies are a mobile group, forever sailing the southern seas from Ormek to Myria to Anquar. As a result of this, the sea gypsies have mingled with dozens of other cultures and their language has likewise absorbed much from others. The most prominent influences were saurian, orcish, drakkellin, myrian and various thieves cants and pirate slang. The resulting mixture became known as Juema. It is spoken by all sea gypsies and a fair number of pirates, sailors, fishermen and town folk throughout the Pirate Isles and the southern seas. It is so common throughout the Pirate Isles that it could almost be considered the default language there. Juema is now a full fledged language. It has its own expressions, idioms, slang terms and so forth. It shares the southern alphabet and has something of the same flavor and rhythm as the southern tongue. Anyone who is going to sail the Sapphire Main would do well to learn this language. Juema is sometimes called "sea talk".
