Hornwood is one of the clan regions of the Kingdom of Normidia. The town of Two Towers is the clan seat where Clan Kragus rules. Clan Kragus is ruled by the Duke Arthon Kragus, a giant of man with a mane of curly black hair and a bushy beard. He is known for a loud and boisterous personality, a booming baritone voice and an equally fierce laughter. He has many large appetites including food, women and wine.
The town of Two Towers is built upon the ruins of an ancient Irenni castle. Little of the original structure stood except for two central towers of enormous size. Those towers still loom over the town. The towers hold the government halls, duke's family residence, the militia's garrison and armory and various storage rooms and treasuries.
Two Towers sits at the meeting of three roads and also at the highest navigable point of the river by large vessels. Further upstream from Two Towers, river traffic is limited to flat bottomed river barges and smaller vessels. Because of the frequent road and river traffic, Two Towers has become something of a trade center and grown to be the second largest town in Normidia because of it.
Hornwood is named for a local species of horned oak tree which grows in abundance here but no where else. There is, in fact, a small forest to the south of Two Towers that is composed almost entirely of horned oaks.
